New in TYPO3 11
Our TYPO3 installation has been updated to version 11. On this page you can find out about the new functions and changes.
TYPO3 is constantly being further developed by a large community. Technical innovations are introduced as well as security updates that close the corresponding gaps in the system.
The TYPO3 installation at TU Dortmund University has now been upgraded to version 11. This ensures that all TYPO3 sites remain technically up to date and that relevant security gaps can be fixed by appropriate patches.
On this page you will find everything you need to know about the relevant new features.
New features
With the update to the new TYPO3 version, new features have found their way into the system to make your day-to-day work easier. Below you will find a list of the features that are relevant for our editors:
Adjustments in the page tree
The search field as well as the display and hiding of the page tree are now integrated elsewhere.
You also have the option of collapsing the entire page tree with a single click for greater clarity.
Adjustments in the file list
Initially, the first level in the file list is now always open.
As with the page tree view, a search field has been added in which you can search for folders. Collapsing the tree view and reloading the page tree have also been added.
As in the list view, you can now add freely selectable columns, such as copyright, to the file list view. It is also possible to edit the metadata of several files in one step.

Deep links in the backend
It is now possible to share specific pages or content elements that you are currently working on with colleagues or the support team.
To do this, click on Copy url of this page and send the link. The recipient of the link will of course only be redirected to the linked element if they are logged into the backend and have the appropriate rights.
DeepL
It is now also possible to translate pages, not just page content, with DeepL...
Recursive deletion of pages
Previously, the option to delete entire branches or even the entire page tree was blocked for web admins and editors. In TYPO3 11 this is no longer possible.
If you are authorized to do so, i.e. if you are allowed to remove all pages individually, you can now delete entire branches with one click. This happens when you edit pages in the page tree using the context menu.
There is no meaningful warning informing you that you are deleting an entire branch.
We would recommend only deleting pages using the delete button in the page properties.
Caution
Please consider carefully whether you really want to delete entire branches. Restoring them is complicated and will require a lot of work.
It is not possible for us to import a backup to repair the damage.
If you have any questions about new functions or about working with TYPO3 in general, please visit us at our TYPO3 Café. This takes place every Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m. via Zoom.
In case of technical problems, please open a ticket at the ServiceDesk with the subject "TYPO3".
